The Vail Police Department is inviting community members to join them for a ski and snowboard registration event between noon and 4:30 p.m. Saturday, March 18 near the Eagle Bahn Gondola in Lionshead. Officers will be on hand to register equipment.

Registering skis and snowboards with the Vail Police Department can aid in their recovery if they are stolen. The process is quick, with a QR code that records serial numbers and identifying characteristics. The information is stored in the department’s record keeping system, so registrants don’t have to remember them.

The Vail Police Department has seen a rise in ski and snowboard thefts over the past few years and can offer tips and advice to help safeguard equipment.
