Transportation providers operating in Vail are reminded that a permit is required to offer passenger services within the town. This permit system, established in 2012, regulates shuttles, limousines, taxis, buses and ride-share services such as Uber and Lyft.
Permits are issued annually and are valid from Nov. 1 through Oct. 31. Permit holders are granted access to designated areas for passenger pick-up and drop-off in Vail Village and Lionshead.
For the 2024-2025 calendar year, the application fee has been raised to $200, with an additional $50 per permit issued. The fee increase is due to rising administrative costs.
Applications, regulations and maps showing areas impacted are available online at www.vail.gov/commercialpermits. Applicants can also visit the Vail Police Department to complete the application, make payments, and pick up permits from Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Questions regarding permits can be directed to Vail Police Administrative Services at 970-479-2210.
