Failure to pay or appear for a penalty assessment traffic infraction will result in a default judgment to be ordered by the court against the person charged with the offense. The fine will be assessed by the Court and reported to the Department of Motor Vehicles to be recorded on the driving record of the person charged.
The court will enter the default judgment in the matter and this order results in 2 options to clear the matter:
- Within fourteen (14) calendar days of the mailing of the default judgment, a guilty plea can be entered to the original charge and payment made to the Town of Vail by mailing a money order or check to: 75 S. Frontage Road, Vail, CO 81658. The second option is to call 970.479.2129 to pay by credit or debit card. The Court accepts Visa or Mastercard payments. Payment can also be made in person at the court office. The full amount due is collected. The original charge, along with the applicable points, will be assessed on the defendants drivers license.
OR
- Within fourteen (14) calendar days from the above date a request for a hearing before the Court to set aside the default judgment can be scheduled. The hearing must be requested in writing. A form for this purpose is available titled, Motion to Set Aside Default Judgment.
