Forget the Foam
Forget the Foam!
Beginning Jan. 1, 2024, through Colorado Law HB21-1162, the Plastic Pollution Reduction Act (PPRA), food retailers in Colorado will no longer be allowed to use polystyrene foam (commonly referred to as Styrofoam®) to serve food or beverages in-store or to-go. This will impact any food retailer serving prepared meals including restaurants, food prep businesses, grocery stores, convenience stores, and cafeterias found in schools and businesses. So, what to use instead? Are some packaging choices better for the environment than others? How much will these alternatives cost?
This guide will help you navigate your choices for alternatives. You’ll also learn more ways your business can choose sustainable options for customers, some of which can save your business money.
