Only six weeks remain for free chipping services provided by Vail Fire and Emergency Services before coming to an end for the season. The chipping is available through Thursday, Oct. 14, to assist with defensible space on private property.

On Aug. 27, the owner of a black Range Rover that was parked in the Solaris parking garage in Vail Village called to report that someone had removed his front license plate and replaced it with another. The plate placed on the vehicle had been reported stolen from Denver on Aug. 26.

At approximately 7 p.m. Aug. 15, the Vail Police Department responded to a call of a theft that had occurred at the Vail Transportation Center. An unknown person removed a Galaxy tablet valued between $400 to $500 from the top of a vending machine.

The Vail Police Department has contracted with a local logistics company to help facilitate a pilot program to improve loading and delivery operations in Vail Village. Coordinated by 106 West, based in Eagle County, the E-Vail Courier pilot program will run for six months during the winter season.

The Rocky Mountain Climate Organization has released a new climate analysis projecting that Eagle County will see many more extremely hot summer days by mid-century, with even larger increases later, unless global heat-trapping emissions are sharply reduced.

On Aug. 20, a Town of Vail employee reported graffiti on the Red Sandstone parking garage, 559 North Frontage Road. The graffiti was located on the second level by the west end stairwell.

Access to public buildings in Vail will require all patrons to wear face coverings beginning Monday, Aug. 23. An emergency order has been signed by the town manager authorizing the protective measures until further notice.

At approximately 7 p.m. Aug. 16, the Vail Police Department responded to a call for a male subject taking pictures over a bathroom stall at City Market in West Vail. The suspect fled the building on foot when confronted by the victim and was last seen running into the parking garage.
