Vail Electors to Decide Taxing Question for Dedicated Housing Fund in November
Voters in Vail will be asked to consider a half-cent sales tax to specifically fund housing initiatives during the Nov. 2 election which will be coordinated with Eagle County. The Vail Town Council voted unanimously at its Aug. 17 meeting to place the taxing measure on the ballot.

Vail Town Council Votes to Implement Dismount Zone in Vail Village to Improve Bicycle/Pedestrian Safety
The Vail Town Council has voted to implement a dismount zone in designated areas of Vail Village to improve interactions between pedestrians and cyclists. The dismount zone is effective immediately.

Business Recycling Challenge Announced
The Town of Vail is pleased to announce the 3rd annual Business Recycling Challenge that includes free customized training, progress reports and bragging rights in three award categories. The competition will start the week of Aug. 30 and run through the month of September.

Emergency Responder Recognition is Wednesday, Aug. 18
Members of the public are invited to join Eagle County emergency responders for the 19th Annual Emergency Responder Recognition on Wednesday, Aug. 18. The activities will begin at 9 a.m. when participants will gather at Freedom Park in Edwards to line up for a “Ride in Remembrance” event.

Last Community Picnic is Tuesday, Aug. 10 at Donovan Pavilion
The Town of Vail will host its remaining neighborhood picnic of the summer on Tuesday, Aug. 10 at Donovan Pavilion in West Vail. The picnic will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. with free food and drink provided by the town.

East Vail Trails Summer Pilot Program Continues to Oct. 10
The East Vail Trails summer pilot program, which has included closure of the Booth Lake trailhead parking, will continue to Oct. 10 to allow for additional data collection. A recommendation to extend the pilot program was confirmed by the Vail Town Council during a check-in at its Aug. 3 meeting.

Wildlife officers relocate a bull moose out of Lionshead Village in Vail
Via Colorado Parks and Wildlife - Colorado Parks and Wildlife officers tranquilized and removed a young bull moose out of a parking garage in Lionshead Village Tuesday morning (July 27) for the well-being of both the moose and the people in the area.
